Embedded emission reporting for electricity exported to the EU via interconnection. Choose grid average or asset-specific methodology.
The EU CBAM mandates **embedded emission reporting for electricity exported across the EU border**. Electricity exporters using the Türkiye-EU interconnection (especially via Greece and Bulgaria) now have a CBAM obligation. CarbonEmit benchmarks the country default emission factor against installation-specific factors automatically, returning the most favourable reportable methodology.
Unlike other CBAM sectors, electricity is treated as a **service rather than a physical product**, so reporting methodologies differ. As Türkiye's renewable electricity generation share (wind + solar + hydro) rises in the national balance, EU electricity exporters' CBAM advantage grows.
The product codes below fall under the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and require embedded emission reporting for exports to the EU.

CarbonEmit provides sector-specific emission factors, automatic CN code mapping and CBAM XML/Excel output ready for direct upload to the EU CBAM Transitional Registry.
CN 2716 0000 (electrical energy) is CBAM-covered. All electrical energy transferred across the EU border is subject to embedded emission reporting.
Both methods are valid. Grid average (~0.45-0.50 kg CO₂e/kWh for Türkiye) is simple but conservative. If you can physically prove that the exported electricity originates from a specific renewable installation, asset-specific reporting (~0 kg) is far more advantageous. CarbonEmit calculates both methods from your EPDK market data.
If you can demonstrate via direct physical line or guaranteed delivery contract that the exported electricity originates from a renewable plant, you can report asset-specific 0 kg CO₂e/kWh for that export. CarbonEmit auto-files your PPA agreement and YEK-G certificates for audit.
TEİAŞ operates EU interconnection lines (Babaeski–Maritsa, Hamitabat–Filippi) for bidirectional trade with Bulgaria and Greece. CBAM creates an obligation for periods when net trade is positive (export).
